NEPAVE PROJECT: “Application of new microbiological control strategies in the processing of poultry by-products and recovery alternatives for the rejection of feather.”

PLACE AND PERIOD OF IMPLEMENTATION: Arribes del río Pirón s/n, 40295, San Martín y Mudrián, Segovia. 01/04/2020 – 30/09/2021.

FINANCING: Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) of the Ministry of Science and Innovation and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Pluri-regional Operational Program of Spain 2014-2020.

APPROVED BUDGET: 252,674.00 €.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS: CDTI-Individual R&D projects.

The main objective of the Project is to evaluate two new tools for the control of microbiological contamination of by-products, equipment and finished products. The capacity and feasibility of disinfection of poultry TAP produced by SARVAL using ozone will be studied. The possibility of using lactic acid bacteria for the control of microorganism populations in raw materials, from the time they are generated until they are processed in the factory, or even in finished products, will be studied. The characterization of the nature of the sieve rejects is proposed with the need to find alternative ways for a better valorization of feather rejects.
